NAB Show 2008

Insights From Morocco

NAB SHOW 2008

Las Vegas, Nevada | 17 April 2008

This year’s annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention offered a preview of new products coming to market in the near future. The most encouraging of those came from Red Digital Cinema, which debuted a few incredible products, such as the Scarlet, a 3K cinema quality camera for $3,000. This is big news because your local cinema's digital projection system is most likely still at 2K resolution (full HD is close to 2K with pixel dimensions of 1920 x 1080). Overall it is apparent that HD is becoming more of a consumer format, while 2K, 4K and beyond will become the de facto resolutions for professionals in television, documentary and narrative film work.

Filmmakers are constantly looking for the best ways to tell a story without calling attention to themselves. Poor quality images are effective in some situations, but for the most part people expect high quality productions to feature high quality pictures. The Scarlet is one such camera that will enable Orbitus as filmmakers to tell an impacting story at an incredible resolution, without breaking the bank. http://www.nab.orghttp://www.red.com/http://www.red.com/shapeimage_7_link_0shapeimage_7_link_1shapeimage_7_link_2
